A little bit about Margaret LanphierMe and a big bug

I guess the biggest news as of late is WE HAD A BABY!

Other stuff:
Straight out of college I went to work for Boeing thru a temp agency. Managed to get hired on full-time in the 777 Flight Controls group, and then transfered into one of the Graphics/Publications groups, programming, and finally to the team creating and maintaining the boeing.com web site. But after 8 years I needed a change in environment and went to work at RealNetworks. Starting thru a temp agency in the Technical Operations group I was soon able to hire in full time to the E-commerce group. I was a database systems analyst/Program Manager for 2 1/2 years. After taking a year off to un-stress, I hired into the New Media Department at the Seattle Times where I helped maintain the online advertisting (banner ad) servers, traffic analysis system, and other odd jobs as assigned. After taking 3 months maternity leave I decided staying home to take care of the baby would be more fun than going back to work so now I'm a fulltime Mommy!

I graduated from the University of Idaho, 1990, with a degree in Telecommunications (Video and Radio Production) and was a part time student D.J. at the student run radio station KUOI-FM.

I'm currently a member of The Orchestra of Flight, formerly the Boeing Employees Concert Orchestra. I've also played with several members of the orchestra in smaller groups, trios and quartets, for weddings, receptions, church services and on stage at community music/craft festivals. Other hobbies include taking the occasional cooking class from Cook's World and Culinary Communion. I've also been a member of Victory Music and have volunteered at the Northwest Folklife Festival. I try to at least make it for the Celtic Band Scramble but missed it in 2006 'cause I was busy having a baby!

When the weather's nice in Seattle, I try to do some gardening. I have a nice collection of dahlias, lilies, and roses in my yard. Despite the rain, we get many birds coming to the bird feeder, along with an occasional squirrel, cat or sharp shinned hawk.

I've been married over 12 years to Rob Lanphier. He's also a total geek and has the trophy to prove it! Right now he's working for Linden Lab.

My dad has worked in the movie industry as a scenic artist. He can paint plywood to look like hardwood floors or styrofoam to look like real rocks! Check out his home page to see all the cool movies he's worked on. He's spent some time in LA but recently moved back to his childhood home of Pekin, IL.

Some friends of mine that have their own web pages include John Spinosa, who's a very good juggler, and George Raino, who's a very good teacher at Jefferson Elementary in Boise, ID. Some folks I've worked with have websites, too - John Soltys http://www.moosefish.com/, Matt and Carlin Pressnall http://www.pressnall.com/, Andrew Ernst http://www.andrewernst.com/

You can always reach me via email. My email address is eyrse@yahoo.com.
